Solid vs. Engineered Hardwood
- Solid Hardwood — 3/4" thick planks milled from a single timber. Can be sanded and refinished 5–7 times over its lifetime. Best above-grade on wood subfloors.
- Engineered Hardwood — a real wood veneer bonded over a plywood core. More dimensionally stable, suitable over concrete and radiant-heat floors, and available in wider planks.

Hardwood Installation Methods
- Nail-down / Staple-down — traditional method for solid hardwood over plywood subfloors; provides the firmest, quietest feel
- Glue-down — used over concrete or on upper floors where nail-down isn't suited
- Floating — engineered hardwood clicked together with no direct adhesion to subfloor
Finishing, Staining, and Care
We offer site-finished (sanded and stained on-site for a custom colour) and pre-finished installations. Pre-finished has a factory UV-cured coat that is especially hard-wearing. We'll advise on the best finish for your traffic level and walk you through a simple care routine to keep your floors looking new for decades.
